Kakapo Lodge Backpackers, Hanmer Springs YHA is a two-storey, purpose-built backpackers lodge with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We are located 200m (a 2-minute walk) from the thermal reserve and the village centre.
Enjoy the summer sunshine outside up on the sunny decks or read a good book down in the peaceful garden. Make the most of the evening sun and do all your cooking outside on the BBQ's provided.
Winter is warm at Kakapo Lodge with a Log Fire and Under-Floor Heating as well as extra duvets and blankets on request. On those cold nights cook up a storm in our large Communal Kitchen and Dining Room.
We have a range of DVD's for hire, which can be watched upstairs in the Lounge. Or you can grab a book from our Book Exchange to read during your stay.
Downstairs are the Computer Terminals which offer Internet as well as a place to upload all of your great holiday snaps. WiFi is available throughout the hostel.
Hanmer Springs Attractions
Hanmer Springs, as the name implies, has a world-famous outdoor hot springs complex (thermal reserve) that is great to relax in during Winter or Summer.
The small alpine village is surrounded by forested hills and mountains. The forests have numerous walking, tramping and mountain biking trails.
Other activities in Hanmer Springs include: bungy jumping, jet boating, quad biking, river rafting, off-road go-kart safaris, skiing, golfing, mini-golf, scenic flights, nature park, hunting and fishing. |
