Located just a 2-minute stroll from the village centre and the famous Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools, YHA Hanmer Springs, Kakapo Lodge is an accommodation option with a lot to offer group bookings. All rooms are fully made-up with sheets, duvets and extra blankets for those cold nights.
Kakapo Lodge has fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and is a great base for your group's tramping or mountain biking adventures.

YHA Hanmer Springs can cater for up to 45 people across 18 rooms. There can be some flexibility in how some rooms are set up. Talk directly to the Hostel about any special arrangements your group might need. Additional keys can be provided for leaders to access all rooms allocated to your group.
Shared rooms
- 1 x 5 bed multishare room
- 3 x 4 bed multishare rooms
- 1 x 3 bed multishare room
We are generally able to allocate shared rooms exclusively to your group. Shared single sex bathroom facilities are situated along the hall from the shared rooms. All bedding is provided (duvets, sheets and pillows) and towels can be hired for $2 each.
Private rooms
- 8 x twin, double or triple rooms
- 2 x 4 or 5 bed family rooms
- 3 x twin, double or triple rooms with ensuite facilities
- 1 x self contained unit
These rooms include all bed linen and towels. Please note that we have a limited number of private rooms with ensuite facilities and they are subject to availability. Ensuite rooms are fully serviced with towels, shampoo and soap included as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Self-contained rooms are available and these have their own kitchenettes.
